The Yukon has a rather unique approach to addressing interpersonal conflict and disrespectful conduct: there is an expectation that employees at every level have a responsibility to make sure that all employees have the respect they deserve and the obligation to address conflict as directly as possible.

The Yukon Government, Yukon Employee’s Union, and Yukon Teacher’s Association collaborated on the development of a Respectful Workplace Policy and the creation of the Respectful Workplace Office to support the application of the policy. The goal being to promote respectful, healthy, and well-functioning workplaces.

In this short presentation, you’ll learn about the context of the creation of this policy, it’s application and support by Conflict Management Practitioners, and some of the ongoing challenges integrating this approach across government departments, with established HR practices, and with a unionized workforce.

Join C.D. Saint and another Conflict Management Practitioner from the Yukon Public Service Commission’s Respectful Workplace Office for this presentation.
