Call for Board Member Applications

Seeking expressions of interest to serve on CoRe Conflict Resolution Society’s (“CoRe”) Board of Directors.

CoRe is a not-for-profit organization that seeks to provide education on conflict resolution topics and to enhance knowledge of collaborative decision-making processes.  To achieve this aim, CoRe runs an annual Speaker Series, offers negotiation and mediation training, and hosts community-building events online and in-person.

CoRe is seeking at least three new volunteers to join its Board of Directors. We are specifically looking for individuals with specialities in one of the following:

  • Fundraising
  • Accounting and/or charity tax
  • Grant writing
  • Social media management/marketing

No previous board experience is necessary. Becoming a CoRe Board Member is a great place to learn board governance and there are opportunities to move into an officer role within a year or two of being a member.

We ask each board member to contribute to the board through meaningful contribution. This is typically through the following:

  • Attends and engages in at least a majority of board meetings (at least 4 virtual meetings a year for for a maximum 60 minutes each)
  • Serves on a committee (e.g., fundraising committee, events committee) or holds a key operational role (e.g., officer role, social media)
  • Supports the organization’s financial sustainability by either paying for a membership ($89), donating, fundraising, or grant writing

CoRe and its members are committed to seeking and understanding diverse perspectives and experiences, and creating an environment where knowledge is shared and respected, with a goal of continuous learning and growth.  As a Society and as a Board we affirm our commitment to creating an anti-racist community wherein we identify, discuss, and challenge issues relating to race, colour, and ethnicity. Identifying how race, culture, gender, sexuality, economics, colonialism, power, and other intersecting experiences impact individuals’ and communities’ experiences of conflict is imperative to the success of our work.

We encourage individuals from all equity-seeking groups, marginalized, or racialized individuals to apply.

If you would like to be considered for a position on CoRe’s Board of Directors or would like more information, please send your expression of interest or query to Darsey Meredith at We will begin reviewing applications October 24th
